Project Manager – Strategic Projects – 1 year FTC

There are 6,694 project manager jobs on LinkedIn today. Including this one.

But this one is different for a host of reasons that might just make it more interesting and nudge it to the top of your list:

  1. Oasis exists to improve the life chances of some of the most disadvantaged and overlooked in society. Young people with fantastic potential but burdened with circumstances or challenges that are simply not their fault.
  2. Whilst we would like someone with some formal project manager qualifications and experience, we are just as interested in people who bring the right mix of background insight, capability, attitude and alignment with our purpose, values and ethos. So, if you are looking for a new direction and have what it takes – read on.
  3. You will be surrounded and supported by peers who all share the same perspective and vision and who will be there to help you out – always.
  4. You’ll be offered flexibility and variety of work. Never a dull day at Oasis as it’s a place where random stuff needs sorting by people great at sorting random stuff.
  5. You’ll get access to a benefits offer that reflects your personal lifestyle and interests
  6. You’ll be trusted and empowered to just get on and do a great job.
  7. You’ll get paid very fairly, receive expenses and are on the local government pension scheme
  8. You’ll get to work with a great team including our Head of Strategic Projects Liz

About the job

There is a full job description attached, but to give a flavour:

Project management at Oasis is about getting things done efficiently, effectively and collaboratively. From managing DfE bids to support our strategies to overseeing large capital projects in partnership with our capital projects team in property and estates. You may be working alongside our IT function to deliver exceptional technical solutions to enhance our teaching and learning in our academies throughout England whilst working with our Education teams to create ambitious teaching spaces in our buildings.

To achieve this (and to enjoy it) you must be able to manage projects. And that means you will be:

  • Organised and able to multi-task – its never just one thing at a time
  • A great written and verbal communicator – to write bids, prepare scoping documents, negotiate with suppliers and partners and more.
  • Patient, persistent, dogged, determined – dealing with levels of bureaucracy can be wearing – so you’ll need some ‘resilience’ at times
  • Observant and astute – to be able to foresee problems and predict events before they happen.
  • Attention to detail (without being pedantic) – spotting mistakes that might derail a project is key.
  • You’ll be comfortable with numbers and be tech savvy – spreadsheets, project plans, slide decks etc
  • And above all – you must be brilliant at forging, maintaining and nurturing relationships. Things get done better and quicker if stakeholders, partners, clients, colleagues and random people like the way you operate.

So, if this sounds like the sort of work you would like to be involved with and you understand the demands of delivering projects in education where each day brings its own set of challenges, surprises, successes and rewards, then we would like to learn more about you.

Please read the full job description and if our ambition matches yours – please apply.
